Spring Break
After Jake's birthday party was over, we were free to start celebrating our Spring Break. I am so thankful that Jason was able to take the week off and we could enjoy it as a family before our new addition arrives. We took off on Sunday, Jake's real birthday, for Nanny Nette and PawPaw's condo in Panama City. Jason and I decided that a few days of fun, sun, relaxing, swimming, and BINGO were just what we needed.
It turns out that things didn't turn out as we had hoped. It was rainy and cold most of the time we were there and we all suffered from sinus issues. Jason's favorite BINGO parlor had changed the way they do things (If it aint broke, don't fix it, right?) and at 7 months pregnant, I was needing my own bed. Sooooo... to make a long story short, we ended up packing up and coming home a little early. We figured we could veg out at home just as well as we could veg out at the condo and Jake would have more toys at home to play with.
The trip wasn't all bad. We were able to do a little shopping in Destin, eat some great food, and spend some quality time relaxing and playing as a family. The highlight of the trip, as you can guess, was Jake. He loved swimming in the big bathtub downstairs (It was indoor and heated.) and he really enjoyed the sand and ocean. Of course we took tons of pictures so here is a few. Jake is always on the go so I didn't get many of him looking at the camera, but you get the picture.
Jake kept a tight grip on Jason at first, but as he got used to the water, he starting loosening up.
Jake on the beach. Thanks Dyers and Easterlings for the swim outfits. They were a hit!
Thank you also to Nanny and PawPaw for the shovel. He loved playing with it.
I think this is the only beach picture where he actually looked at me.

Would it be too much to ask for a smile?
The water was very cold, but Jake was tough. Maybe next time the water will be a little warmer and we can play in it for longer.
Daddy and Jake rinsing off all of the sand that Jake managed to accumulate.

Daddy and his mini-me.
Posing with the sign didn't bother me, but posing with the live gator on the ground scared me to death! I wouldn't let Jason get any closer than this.

Back on the road again, you can tell that all of the gator excitement didn't get to Jake too much. He was ready to relax again with a good book and his pacifier. He's really gotten into books lately and has worn a few out from over-use. Just don't tell him that he's looking at Elmo upside down!
On the way home, the long drive in a car seat and a very stinky diaper made it necessary for us to pull off and take a break. We were so ready to be home, but when Jake's diaper started speaking to all of us, we quickly made a detour.
Luckily, we were close to one of our favorite stops, the alligator gas station just outside of Eufala, AL. The gators were looking to be fed and I was so scared that they were going to go after my toes, or worse, Jake! Nevertheless, we had to pull out the camera and snap a few pictures of Jake with his first live alligator. I was so nervous the whole time, but this time Jason kept a tight grip on Jake and we all made it home alive. Enjoy!

Next week it's back to the real world for the three of us. That means getting up at 5:30 and heading back to work (or the sitter's in Jake's case). Yuck! But, summer and baby girl Brown will be here before you know it!
