Jake's Dedication


On Sunday, Jake had another special day. He was dedicated at Palmetto Baptist Church with all of his favorite people there to watch him. Jason and I had to promise to raise Jake in a Christian home with peace and love. We also promised to teach Jake to love God above all others. It's a big responsibility to raise such a precious child, but I can't imagine doing it without seeking God's advice daily. Jason and I have never promised to be perfect parents, but we do promise to trust in God and seek His will for Jake's life. Here are a few pictures from Jake's special day.

Jake slept right through his dedication. That's okay because we took plenty of pictures.


Nanny Nette and Mommy looked long and hard to find Jake's special outfit. Check out the adorable knee-socks that complete the outfit. Doesn't he look like a little man?

Nanny Shewbert , my great-grandmother, is 98 or 99 years old. (She says she is 98, but the family Bible says 99.) She lived with us some when I was a child to take care of Allyson and me so that Mom could work. Because of this, she and I have always been very close. In fact, I like to joke with my cousins that I'm her favorite. So when Jake came along, I wanted him to be around Nanny Shewbert as often as possible. She lives in Helen, so we don't see her (or the rest of our mountain family) often enough. Jake is incredibly blessed to have 1 great-great- grandmother, 3 great-grandmothers, and a great-grandfather to all welcome him in to the world. For Labor Day weekend, Nanny Nette and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and get up to see the family. Claire Elizabeth Brown

I was finally getting the hang of this mom business. After having Jake for 14 months, he and I were really in our groove.... and along comes Claire. When we found out that we were expecting again, I was shocked, excited, and very scared. How in the world could I handle two children under the age of 2? I still haven't figured that out, but let me tell you that I can't imagine life without MY two. From the moment Claire Elizabeth was placed in my arms, I knew that I loved these two more than any other gift I'd ever been given. My water broke at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 6. Jason and I were excited, but tired and had been hoping for some rest on Saturday night. Instead of that rest, we got a trip to the hospital where we were up all night waiting on our little bundle. Brown Update

It's been a while since we've posted. Life with a 10 month old is always busy so I don't get very much time to sit at the computer. Sorry! I will try my best to do better! Here is a quick update on what has happened with us since our last post: I haven't posted anything about being pregnant, but most of you know anyway. In late October, Jason and I were shocked to find out that baby #2 was on the way. While it took me a while to get used to the idea, Jason was excited from the get-go. I guess that's another reason we haven't posted in a while, mommy is tired all of the time! Anyway, we found out last week that we are having a GIRL ! We were both thrilled and I know Jake will be a wonderful big brother to his little sister. We don't have a name picked out yet, but she will be here sometime around our anniversary in June.
