Father's Day

Jake came just in time for all of the important holidays. One of the most special things that has happened to our family so far is the celebration of Mother's Day and Father's Day. Jason and I are so grateful that God chose us to raise such a precious and perfect little boy.

Jason's parents were out of town for Father's Day so we spent the day with my family in Gainesville. Jake got to spend the day with his dad while I spent the day with my dad and his dad (Pop Charlie). It was a special day with all of the family. We are truly blessed to have some wonderful dads in our family! Below are a few pictures of our special day.

Jake wanted to surprise daddy with Breakfast in bed. Really, Jake has a few years before he'll be able to help mommy cook, but this year he helped by being the alarm clock. He made sure to wake mommy up early enough so that we could get everything ready before daddy woke up.

It turned out that the breakfast in bed was too much for Jake. He fell asleep after we got him bathed and dressed for the day. I guess the excitement just wore him out.

Jake with cousins Jon and Minnie. They are expecting in August so this was a little practice time. Jake can't wait to meet his new cousin!

Nanny Shewbert , my great-grandmother, is 98 or 99 years old. (She says she is 98, but the family Bible says 99.) She lived with us some when I was a child to take care of Allyson and me so that Mom could work. Because of this, she and I have always been very close. In fact, I like to joke with my cousins that I'm her favorite. So when Jake came along, I wanted him to be around Nanny Shewbert as often as possible. She lives in Helen, so we don't see her (or the rest of our mountain family) often enough. For Labor Day weekend, Nanny Nette and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and get up to see the family. Claire Elizabeth Brown

I was finally getting the hang of this mom business. After having Jake for 14 months, he and I were really in our groove.... and along comes Claire. When we found out that we were expecting again, I was shocked, excited, and very scared. How in the world could I handle two children under the age of 2? I still haven't figured that out, but let me tell you that I can't imagine life without MY two. From the moment Claire Elizabeth was placed in my arms, I knew that I loved these two more than any other gift I'd ever been given. My water broke at about 11:30 pm on Saturday, June 6. Jason and I were excited, but tired and had been hoping for some rest on Saturday night. Instead of that rest, we got a trip to the hospital where we were up all night waiting on our little bundle. Brown Update

It's been a while since we've posted. Life with a 10 month old is always busy so I don't get very much time to sit at the computer. Sorry! I will try my best to do better! Here is a quick update on what has happened with us since our last post: I haven't posted anything about being pregnant, but most of you know anyway. In late October, Jason and I were shocked to find out that baby #2 was on the way. While it took me a while to get used to the idea, Jason was excited from the get-go. I guess that's another reason we haven't posted in a while, mommy is tired all of the time! Anyway, we found out last week that we are having a GIRL ! We were both thrilled and I know Jake will be a wonderful big brother to his little sister. We don't have a name picked out yet, but she will be here sometime around our anniversary in June.
