Jake's Old Timey Photo Shoots

So at the threats of my friends of being removed from their blog lists, I've decided to post a few pics. I must admit that with the end of the year, having to move my classroom, and being pregnant, I've fallen behind on my mommy picture taking. Thank goodness that Aunt Fabby is usually around with her very nice camera to catch all of Jake's Kodak moments. Maybe now that summer is here, we can talk her into posting some of those pics on her blog for me (hint, hint, Aunt Fabby!)
These pictures are some that were taken as a fund raiser for Relay for Life. A local church was selling picture packages to raise money for Relay and we wanted to have Jake's pictures made while supporting this very worthy cause. My aunt was able to secure one of the much desired time slots and we were set. Nanny Nette took Jake with her to the mountains for the weekend so that Jason and I could have a break so the photo shoot took place without either of us being there. Thank goodness for Nanny Nette, Aunt Fabby, Aunt Dikey, and Cousin Dede for taking Jake and making sure that he was handsome in every picture. Here are some of the best ones...

This is my Papa JC's banjo. Jake is named after him so it's only fitting that he borrow his banjo!

On a recent trip to visit the some of the grandmothers, we took the kids to Babyland General. While they aren't mature enough to adopt their own babies yet, they enjoyed all of the babies at the nursery. I expect that we will be going back to adopt when they get a little older. Racing to Jake's Second Birthday!

Rev your Engines and Shift into Gear... Jake's Second Birthday is almost here! We celebrated Jake's birthday a few weeks early this year because of Jason's work schedule. His official birthday isn't until March 29, but extra partying never hurts anyone! We also combined his party with a special surprise for Nanna Nette's big 6-0 party. Jake had a blast celebrating with all of his favorite people. Jake found his gifts before the party even started. He was riding his new tricycle from Nana and Papa before all of the party guests arrived. Nanna Nette was surprised to find out that she had helped plan her own party! Jake and Nanny Shewbert

Nanny Shewbert , my great-grandmother, is 98 or 99 years old. (She says she is 98, but the family Bible says 99.) She lived with us some when I was a child to take care of Allyson and me so that Mom could work. Because of this, she and I have always been very close. In fact, I like to joke with my cousins that I'm her favorite. So when Jake came along, I wanted him to be around Nanny Shewbert as often as possible. She lives in Helen, so we don't see her (or the rest of our mountain family) often enough. Jake is incredibly blessed to have 1 great-great- grandmother, 3 great-grandmothers, and a great-grandfather to all welcome him in to the world. For Labor Day weekend, Nanny Nette and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and get up to see the family.
