Baby Jake

Have you ever witnessed perfection? I have! I get to see it every time I look at my sweet baby boy! God created the most perfect little man that I've ever seen. How He could take parts of Jason and me and mold them into such an incredible miracle is truly awesome. We are so blessed to be mommy and daddy to this amazingly perfect creation!

Jason and I became first time parents on March 29, 2008 at 9:01 pm. It was an extremely long day for me and after 18 hours of labor and almost 3 hours of pushing, I thought we'd never meet little Jake. He finally made his grand appearance and our lives will never be the same again. Jason and I are learning every day how wonderful parenting can be. Here are a few pictures to share our last week with you. Come visit us when you get a chance and in the meantime, keep us in your prayers!

Our first family portrait. You must realize that I love my baby very much to post this horribly swollen picture of me! Check out Jason's cloth around his neck. The delivery was rough for him too. He was a trooper and supported me 100%. I'm so glad I have him!

Getting ready to check out of the hospital and go home. Can you tell how scared I was?


Our little thug man. Everything is huge on him because he's so tiny. We are hoping he will grow into his newborn clothes soon!


Bubba meets his new little brother Jake. Bubba is having a hard time getting used to this!

We are so glad that Baby Jake is here! He is so handsome and looks so much like his Daddy! Jason, I guess that makes you handsome too!! You guys are going to be great parents and Baby Jake is lucky to have you guys! It's an adventure...enjoy every minute of it because it goes by so quickly. It's hard to believe that our little angels are 13 months old now...time really does fly! Congratulations!

On a recent trip to visit the some of the grandmothers, we took the kids to Babyland General. While they aren't mature enough to adopt their own babies yet, they enjoyed all of the babies at the nursery. I expect that we will be going back to adopt when they get a little older. They had a blast! Claire really liked the ones with big hair. I think the school bus was Jake's favorite part. He wanted to get on and ride!

Racing to Jake's Second Birthday!

Rev your Engines and Shift into Gear... Jake's Second Birthday is almost here! We celebrated Jake's birthday a few weeks early this year because of Jason's work schedule. His official birthday isn't until March 29, but extra partying never hurts anyone! We also combined his party with a special surprise for Nanna Nette's big 6-0 party. Jake had a blast celebrating with all of his favorite people. Jake found his gifts before the party even started. He was riding his new tricycle from Nana and Papa before all of the party guests arrived. Nanna Nette was surprised to find out that she had helped plan her own party! Jake and Nanny Shewbert

Nanny Shewbert , my great-grandmother, is 98 or 99 years old. (She says she is 98, but the family Bible says 99.) She lived with us some when I was a child to take care of Allyson and me so that Mom could work. Because of this, she and I have always been very close. In fact, I like to joke with my cousins that I'm her favorite. So when Jake came along, I wanted him to be around Nanny Shewbert as often as possible. She lives in Helen, so we don't see her (or the rest of our mountain family) often enough. Jake is incredibly blessed to have 1 great-great- grandmother, 3 great-grandmothers, and a great-grandfather to all welcome him in to the world. For Labor Day weekend, Nanny Nette and I decided to take advantage of the long weekend and get up to see the family.
